The Federal Government of the United Republic of Orion has formally designated the Tartarus Sector and its flagship support station, a massive orbital hub built to bridge the frontier and the unreachable Nereid Sector.

Senate leaders hailed Tartarus as “a lighthouse of stability” for colonists, freighters, and explorers. Stage One construction — completed in early July — provided the core habitation ring, freight docks, and the first public plazas.

Corporate partners OrionEX and Cynosure lauded their contributions. OrionEX described the project as “a bridge to the stars,” while Cynosure emphasized its role in “ensuring life-support resilience and ecological stability.”

For civilians, Tartarus is fast becoming a destination in its own right. Merchants report surging demand for berthing slots, while cultural planners are already preparing seasonal festivals. Independent entrepreneurs are rushing to establish claims, storefronts, and services, each hoping to carve out market share before the sector matures.
