Blackthorn Ordnance today formally unveiled the MAR-25 family, a modular infantry rifle platform the company says is designed to streamline logistics and improve marksmanship consistency across Republic forces and approved civilian markets.

The MAR-25 base model — announced for public sale under the designation MAR-25-D (Domestic) — features a common chassis with quick-change barrels and compatibility with standard STANAG magazines. Blackthorn officials emphasized parts commonality and field serviceability as core goals, citing reduced maintenance cycles and simplified supply chains for both garrison and frontier deployments.

In parallel with the civilian rollout, Blackthorn displayed restricted military variants that will enter Republic service following procurement trials. The MAR-25-S (Smart) variant incorporates an integrated ballistics module and limited fire-control assistance. These features will remain gated by firmware and hardware safeguards, available only to authorized military and security units. Company representatives reiterated that smart functions are permanently disabled on civilian and militia rifles.

Observers noted that the rifle has already been spotted in limited circulation among Legionnaire units within the Orbital Shock Legion, suggesting a phased introduction ahead of broader deployment.

Initial production will be handled at Blackthorn’s flagship Martian manufacturing complex, which is set to produce both military and civilian variants. Company officials said the facility will generate thousands of technical and industrial jobs while consolidating supply lines between core and frontier systems.

A spokesperson framed the MAR-25 as a step toward procurement efficiency:

Officials from the Federal Procurement Office attended the unveiling but deferred comment until formal adoption trials conclude. Blackthorn confirmed that civilian MAR-25-D models will be sold through licensed dealers under Republic firearms regulations, while restricted variants remain under military procurement and licensing frameworks.
